Bell & Ross Type Demineur watch

The Bell & Ross Type Demineur watch epitomizes the purposeful form-inspired-by-function ethic that drives this focused brand. Well-known for producing watches which meet the most stringent professional demands, Bell & Ross scores yet again with the Type Demineur timepiece--a tool created for the split-second high pressure field of bomb disposal on dry land or beneath the water. However, this watch's handsome straightforward design, functionality, and comfort make it equally well-suited for any sporting requirement.

The heart of the Bell & Ross Type Demineur watch is an impressively precise 7-jewel Swiss ETA quartz movement; in addition to its great timekeeping performance, this reliable motor is immune to the effects of magnetic fields. Protecting this device is a brushed stainless steel case equipped with an ultra-hard sapphire crystal, and screw-down crown and caseback; together, these elements unite to provide water-resistance to 200 meters, a level suitable for diving usage.

Ideal for marking off any short term time interval, the rotating bezel is graduated in 5-minute sectors, and rotates only in the counterclockwise direction. Subtle texturing on the side of the bezel facilitates a firm grip and easy operation in the toughest conditions. Bell & Ross offers the Type Demineur watch with a finely crafted stainless steel bracelet, a flexible rubber strap, or a fabric strap which permits a great range of adjustment--ideal for fitting atop a bulky coat, or wetsuit. The Bell & Ross Type Demineur timepiece is available with a matte black, or white dial, both options being generously marked with luminous applications that ensure great legibility and instantaneous reading in any light condition.

Bell & Ross Function watch

The Bell & Ross Function watch is a technically brilliant sports timepiece with an unusually diverse range of functions. A characteristic example of Bell & Ross' dedication to creating consummate professional instruments, the Function watches grant their wearer superb functionality, and handsome good looks as result of a purposeful design.

The Bell & Ross Function watch features a high-tech quartz movement that offers both analog and digital displays. In addition to the primary analog time indication, the Function timepiece presents a secondary digital function whose multiple modes are operable via a simple twist of the crown. By doing this, the owner may adjust his or her Function watch to display the date, a chronograph, a second time zone, or an alarm, as well as a countdown timer, and selective time display modes in 12-hour or 24-hour formats. This superbly flexible multifunction movement is securely protected within a finely crafted yet durable 37mm stainless steel case, which is fully water resistant to a depth of 100 meters. Bell & Ross presents the Function timepieces in several distinctive styles, each of which has its own attractive highlights.

The Function Modern watches have a black dial with bold Arabic numerals around the periphery. The Function Index timepieces are characterized by applied stick-type indices, a decidedly elegant presentation; this variation is offered with a black dial, as well as alternatives in silver and grey. Visual cleanliness and legibility are both present in the Function Classic watch, with its sober Arabic numerals, and clearly marked subdivided minute scale. Each Bell & Ross Function timepiece is fitted with faceted, polished dauphine hands, and is available with a strap in rubber or leather, or a matching stainless steel bracelet with a triple-deployant butterfly clasp.

Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Phantom Chronograph

Perhaps "little" is not a fair adjective to be used when describing the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Phantom. Its stainless steel case, coated with the manufacturer's proprietary black carbon finish, is 42mm wide. While not a particularly large size, the case's square shape makes the watch feel a lot larger than what a round one with 42mm diameter would. At the same time, the BR 03 case size is not exclusively for those who love oversize watches. No client at the Matt Baily boutique has ever accused a BR 03 of being too big or too heavy on the wrist.

The all-black or Phantom style has become quite well known over the past two or three years. Bell & Ross, is one of the companies to pioneer the style. It has since been emulated by dozens of other manufacturers. The allure of the all-black design occurs in its stealth and oddity. Apparently not telling time at all, it takes many by surprise at first. Thanks to the size of the hands and hour markers, as well as the markers having a light relief over the dial, the time is easily legible during the day. The relief of the hour markers is due to copious amounts of paint that are applied carefully to the dial. The paint used is phosphorescent, which makes the Phantom look even more remarkable at night when the hands, numerals, and indexes emit their strong green glow.

The BR 03-94 Phantom will not be produced in limited numbers like its bigger, older brother, the 46mm BR 01-94 Phantom. What will probably be the case is that the yearly production numbers will be limited. The non-chronograph version released last year is limited to 500 pieces per year, so it would be safe to assume that the same will apply to the BR 03 Phantom chronograph. The downside of such low production for such a desirable watch is that it can be get somewhat difficult to get your hands on one. The exclusivity of owning one, however, assures that you will have a watch that is even less common than the others in the Bell & Ross collections.

As with all other BR 03-94s, the Phantom runs on an automatic winding ETA 2894-2 calibre and is made at Bell & Ross' manufacturing facilities in Switzerland. More models and specifications are available on the BR 03-94 collection page on MattBaily.ca. The BR 03-94 Phantom is indicative of Bell & Ross. It encompasses some of the company's most important design principles such as the legibility, strength, and the stealthy, all-black Phantom dial.
